Outdure Composite Deck Build at Rotorua Aquatic Centre

The Rotorua Aquatic Centre, a popular facility catering to aquatic sports and recreational activities underwent a revamp to extend its pool and upgrade its amenities. Baywood Construction, a renowned deck builder, was entrusted by Naylor Love to install new composite decking around the pool’s perimeter and create step-down areas adjacent to the grassed zones.
To ensure the deck could withstand the demands of heavy foot traffic, water exposure, and the unique geothermal conditions of the centre, Outdure’s composite decking, in combination with their Qwickbuild Aluminium Deck Framing, was chosen. This strategic selection offered a host of advantages, including excellent slip resistance, weather resistance, and outstanding durability specifically designed for outdoor environments. The aluminium framing provided essential structural stability and corrosion resistance, establishing a solid and long- lasting foundation for the deck.
Baywood Construction skillfully installed the new composite decking, covering an expansive area of 705m2 of the pool area, which encompassed a well-designed 150m2 staircase. The revitalized deck not only met the high demands of the centre’s visitors but also prioritised longevity, safety and ease of maintenance, ensuring its lasting functionality.
